My skincare routine doesn’t vary that much from season-to-season, but recently I tried a few new beauty products that I really enjoyed (even loved). The newest product for me was a cleansing balm. For those of you not familiar with a cleansing balm, it’s a product that is used to take off makeup as part of a double cleanse (a double cleanse consists of using a cleansing balm and then a face wash). Previously I’d use coconut or olive oil, but after doing more research and just trial-and-error, I realized that coconut oil doesn’t really wash off of your face and it prevents products for penetrating your pores.
I didn’t realize how important vitamin C was to a skincare routine; it’s a powerful and potent antioxidant. And antioxidants helps to protect the body — and in this case the skin on your face — from free radicals such as environmental pollutants (dust, smog). Using a Vitamin C serum daily has tremendously improved my skin. It’s helped with some of my hyperpigmentation and it makes the texture of my skin feel softer and brighter. I was using the Mad Hippie serum for a while, but I decided to try the Andalou Naturals one since it was on sale at Whole Foods. After using each of these for a month I think I like the Mad Hippie one better. I liked the texture and the consistency.
Here is the order that I use these products:
I hope this information is helpful for you reading right now. I think the key with skincare is to be patient and consistent — that’s honestly what’s worked for me. Whenever I try a new product, I give it time before I give up on it. Also, don’t get frustrated with your skin. Sometimes our bodies just go through phases.
If you have any other questions, please let me know. I’d love to hear your feedback, too.
